Chapter 34 - Izzie Davison

Jim eats the mango the pilot gave to him while outside Lungha camp, thinking about how he could trade work for magos and flying lessons from the pilot. American bombers fly over the airfield, droping canopies. Jim investigates the parachutes and is confused at the amount of american food spilled onto the feild. Collecting some, and retreating to a safe hiding place before a shot is fired and two Japanese appear, on of which is Private Kimura. After ten paces, the Private is shot but a group of europeans, one with a rifle. The europeans then collected the food in the parachute and took it back to the Lungha camp. Jim watches as Private Kimura slowly gathers a pool of blood around him in the paddy feild. Before eating his spam and dried milk while watching the American bombers drop more canopies over Shanghai.
