Chapter 20 Lunghua Camp- KAtie Sadler

jim has been at Lunghua camp for three years and so has become acustomed to the routins in the camp, during the past three years jim has grown up and has learned to fend for himself making new friends within the camp and continuing to help Basie, one of Basie's jobs are for jim to set up pheasant traps on the other side of the wire fence, that he has to continually check and re-set eventhough he knows that it is unlikely to catch anything. whilst on the other side of the fence jim picks up a turtle to cook and eat later as food is scarce in the camp and jim is always deperate for more food. in this chapter you learn about the camp and the `day to day running of the camp and the layout and the fact that JIm would always know what was going on. the authour describes how the english residents had put up street names to remind them of London however as he describes they had just given themselves an excuse to retreat within themselves. jim befriends some tweleve year olds and shows them the turtle calling it a bomb , however jim has chosen to spend more time with Basie and Dr Ransome, however now and again he would re-enter his boy childhood. he states thathe did still dream of his faces but could no longer remember their faces
